What you need to check

This card is for people who get certain Veterans’ Affairs benefits, such as TPI (totally and permanently incapacitated) veterans, the Special Rate Disability Pension and war widows or widowers. A plain Gold Card without one of these classifications does not count. It gives you the pensioner rebate on council rates and water for a home you own and live in. You still need to register with the Water Corporation. If you have a Pensioner Concession Card you do not need it.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
