Stay safe from scams

Scammers sometimes promise “unclaimed money” or a government payment. Here is how to tell us apart from a scam, and what to do if you are worried.

If you think you have been scammed

What unclaimd will never do

Finding support on unclaimd is free.

  • We will never ask for your myGov sign-in, password or code, or your bank or card details.
  • We will never ask for your tax file, Medicare or Centrelink number.
  • We will never phone you or send you a text message. We only email you if you write to us, sign in or turn on alerts.

How to check you are on the real site

  • Check the address bar before you type anything. Our address is unclaimd.org.
  • Type our address yourself, or use a bookmark. Take care with links in texts, emails and ads.
  • unclaimd is not a government website. We never ask you to sign in to myGov on our site.
  • To apply for support, use the link on our listing to go to the official site. Official government sites usually end in .gov.au.

Real government websites

Services Australia says it will never send you a link in a text or email, or ask for your myGov sign-in details. A message or call that does is a scam.

  • my.gov.au: myGov. Only sign in by typing my.gov.au into your browser, or with the myGov app.
  • servicesaustralia.gov.au: Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support.

Phone numbers and links were checked on each official site on 2 November 2026. If something here is different from the official site, the official site is right. Tell us so we can fix it.
