What you need to check

The home must be new, meaning nobody has lived in it or bought it as a home before. You must be 18 or older. At least one buyer must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. You and your partner must not have owned a home before 1 July 2000, or lived in a home you owned for more than 6 months since then. You must not have had the grant before. All owners on the title must apply, and they must be people, not a company or trust. You must move in within 12 months and live there for at least 6 months. The grant is $20,000 if your contract or building started between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027. New builds must be finished within 24 months.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
