What you need to check

It can be a new house, an off-the-plan apartment or a home you build, but not vacant land alone. You must be 18 or older, and at least one buyer must be a citizen or permanent resident. You and your partner must never have owned a home in Australia. You must live in the home. There is no price cap for contracts from 6 June 2024. There is also separate stamp duty relief for first home buyers.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
