What you need to check
You need a Pensioner Concession Card or a Veteran Gold Card. You must own the home, or have the right to live there for life, and you must pay the rates. The home must be in Queensland and be where you mainly live. It covers 20% of your rates and charges, for one property only. Councils also take 20% off the Emergency Management Levy, a state charge on your rates notice. Many councils give an extra discount of their own.
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
