What you need to check

A bond is the money you pay before moving in, kept in case of damage or unpaid rent. You pay the loan back every 2 weeks over 12 or 18 months. You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident living in NSW, and 18 or over. You must be able to get social housing (low income and assets) and have less than $5,000 in cash. You usually cannot own property. The rent must be no more than half your household’s income before tax. The income rule does not apply if you are escaping domestic or family violence.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
