What you need to check
Rent Choice pays part of your rent for up to 3 years. In the first year you pay 25% of your weekly income plus all of your Commonwealth Rent Assistance. Your share then goes up slowly. You must be homeless or at risk of it. You must also be an Australian citizen or permanent resident living in NSW, be under the income limits and be able to keep up a private rental. Types include Start Safely, for people leaving domestic or family violence, and Youth, for people aged 16 to 24. Others are for veterans, for social housing tenants moving to a private rental (Transition), and for people after a money setback (Assist, only in some areas).
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
