What you need to check
It is for people who have left, or plan to leave, a violent partner and are under money stress. You must have changed where you live in the last 12 weeks because of the violence (this includes the violent partner leaving the home), or have a plan to change, including when. You must be 18 or older and live in Australia. Citizens, permanent residents and people on temporary visas can all get it, of any gender. Apart from the cash, the money comes as goods and services. You also get safety planning, a risk check and referrals for up to 12 weeks. You cannot get it if you got this payment, the Escaping Violence Payment or the Temporary Visa Holders Experiencing Violence Pilot payment in the last 12 months. It is not a crisis service. If you are in danger now, call 000.
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
