What you need to check

You must live in a WA country region and be eligible for Medicare. You must travel more than 100 km one way to the nearest appropriate specialist. Limited help is available for 70 to 100 km for cancer or renal treatment. It pays 40c a km by private car and economy fares for train, bus or air. Commercial accommodation is up to $110 a night for the patient, plus up to $15 for an approved support person. You cannot get it if DVA, workers compensation or insurance already helps. Subsidies are a contribution only and do not cover all costs. Register with Form A. Your clinician fills in part of Form B. Send it with your receipts to your regional PATS office within 12 months of the appointment. Since 1 July 2026 it also covers some specialist allied health and dental visits.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
