What you need to check
You need a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or Veteran Gold Card. The gas account must be in your name. Your gas company takes 17.5% off your piped (mains) gas usage and service charges from 1 May to 31 October. The first $62.40 of winter bills does not get the discount. If your winter gas costs go over $2,598.58, you need to fill in another form to keep the discount. The 2026 winter period has ended. The next one starts on 1 May 2027.
