What you need to check

It is for an overdue power, gas or water bill you cannot pay, if you might be cut off. You need a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or Veteran Gold Card. People on a low income without a card may also get it. You must also have a reason, such as family violence, losing income, big unexpected costs, or housing costs over 30% of your income. You can get up to $650 for each bill type every two years. Homes with only electricity can get up to $1,300. The money goes straight to your energy or water company. Renters and owners can apply.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
