What you need to check

When a bond refund cannot be paid (usually because of wrong bank details), the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA) keeps it. Search for it on the RTBA website, or use the link in the email it sent you. Choose your name, prove who you are through Service Victoria, and enter your bank details. It is usually paid the same business day. You must use the name and email on the bond, so update them first if they have changed. If it is still unclaimed 12 months after the bond closed, it moves to the Victorian Unclaimed Money Register, where you can still claim it.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
