What you need to check
You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or refugee, and a Victorian resident. In rural and regional areas, you must travel 100 km one way or 500 km in 7 days to the closest specialist. Everyone in Victoria can get help for interstate services that are not available in Victoria. Under the guidelines from 1 April 2026, it pays 21 cents a km by car, pays economy public transport fares, and pays up to $45 a night for commercial accommodation. If you are over 18 and are not the main holder of an approved concession card, you do not get the first $100 of subsidies each treatment year. Your specialist must confirm your treatment on a form. You cannot claim if another scheme, such as WorkSafe, the TAC, DVA or the NDIS, can pay. Apply online through Victorian Concessions and Allowances on myGov, or email vptas@health.vic.gov.au. Phone 1300 737 073. You need a new application for each visit, within 12 months of the appointment.
