What you need to check
You need a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or Veteran Gold Card. It is for energy you buy that does not come from the main network, such as bottled gas, firewood, heating oil, generator fuel, and power from a shared private network (like in a caravan park). The more you spend, the more you get. For 2026 it is $58 to $666 for each energy type. Firewood must be your home’s only fixed heating. Generator users must not be connected to the power grid. Claims for a year close on 31 December the next year.
