What you need to check
You may get a permit if you have a significant disability or injury that affects your mobility, or are legally blind. Start on the accessible parking permit website and you will get a reference number by text. Your doctor can also start it for you. Your doctor then does an online assessment (an occupational therapist can do it for mobility only conditions). Your council decides, and you should hear back by mail in 10 to 15 days. A permit lets you park in accessible bays, or for twice the time in regular bays. Short-term permits last 6 months, 1 year or 2 years. Long-term permits last 5 years. Parking fees still apply.
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
