What you need to check

It is for people who look after someone without being paid, such as a person with disability, a serious illness or mental illness, or an older person who needs care. Foster, kinship, respite and permanent carers of children can also get it. Paid care workers cannot. Card holders get half-price public transport, free weekend travel, free travel vouchers and discounts at many businesses.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
