What you need to check
If you have a Pensioner Concession Card or Health Care Card, ambulance trips that are medically needed are free. Children listed on a Pensioner Concession Card also count, but a spouse listed on a Pensioner Concession Card does not. Dependants on a Health Care Card count too, including spouses. If you only have a Carer Allowance Health Care Card, you are not covered, but the child with the disability is. Foster Care cards only cover the child. Veteran Gold or White Card holders should check with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Tell the paramedic your card number.
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
