What you need to check
The department pays for one pair of standard lenses and frames each year. You may get more if the prescription changes. The student must go to a government or registered non-government school, or be home educated. The parent must hold a Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veterans’ Affairs concession card. Children in out-of-home care and grandparent carers can also get it. You must use an optometrist who takes part in the scheme. You pay extra if you choose non-standard frames or lenses.
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
