What you need to check
You must have a permanent and severe disability that limits your use of public transport. If you are permanently dependent on a wheelchair, the scheme pays 75% of the fare, up to $30 a trip. For everyone else it pays 50%, up to $20 a trip. These rates come from a page last updated in May 2024, so they may have changed. A GP, medical specialist or mobility instructor fills in the medical sections of the form. You also need one passport-size colour photo, certified by an adult who has known you for at least 12 months. That person cannot be related to you, be your partner or live at your address. Post the form to SATSS Customer Services, GPO Box 2830, Adelaide SA 5001. Phone 1300 360 840. You get a photo ID card in the mail.
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
