What you need to check

You must be a permanent SA resident enrolled in Medicare. You must travel more than 100 km each way to the nearest recognised specialist or approved service. Some renal or cancer patients who travel 50 to 100 km may also get help. You cannot get it if another scheme helps you, and you must claim your private health fund first. From 1 July 2026 fuel pays 34.4 cents a km. Accommodation is up to $110 a night, or $154 with an approved escort. It does not cover GPs or allied health. Apply on the PATS online portal with your email address and Medicare number, or use a paper form. Email PATS@sa.gov.au.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
