What you need to check

You must be eligible for Medicare and live permanently in Queensland. You must travel more than 50 km one way to the nearest eligible specialist. You need a referral for an approved specialty, and you must be unable to use telehealth. You cannot get it if you are a visitor or if another scheme, such as WorkCover or Veterans’ Affairs, helps you. It pays full price for the lowest available discount fare on a plane, bus, ferry or train. It pays 45c a km for a private vehicle, up to $70 a night for commercial accommodation, and $10 a night if you stay with family or friends. It does not cover the full cost. Give Form A and a clinician-completed Form B to any Queensland public hospital. Call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
