What you need to check

The crisis must be in the last 12 months. Examples are losing work hours, a family break-up, or a big unexpected cost for something essential. You must pay the bill yourself. You also need a concession card, a low income, or a hardship plan with your energy company. It does not cover long-term money problems, small drops in income, rent, phone or internet bills.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
