What you need to check

Your child must be at least 4 by 30 June in the year before school. It must be a government-approved kindy program, at a sessional kindergarten or a long day care service. In long day care you still pay for care before and after the free kindy hours. The Child Care Subsidy (Australian Government help with childcare fees) may cover some of that. Use the Free Kindy Finder, then contact the service to enrol.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
