What you need to check
Businesses send Revenue NSW money they could not pay to the owner, such as uncashed cheques, share dividends, trust accounts, refunds that never arrived, and money in the name of someone who has died. Search the free register by name. To claim online, you need proof of identity, proof of your link to the money and your bank details. A family member can claim for you with a signed form, and executors can claim for an estate. Claims take up to 28 days. There is a paper form if you do not use email. Private money finders charge a fee, but you do not need one. Phone 1300 366 016.
