What you need to check
It is for a current home power or gas bill you cannot pay because of a short-term crisis. Examples are losing income, surprise medical costs or a natural disaster. A letter saying you will be cut off also counts. The money goes straight to your energy company. The account must be open and in your name. It does not cover bottled gas, business bills or bills for a home you have left.
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
