What you need to check

You may get a permit if you have lost the use of one or both legs, if walking 100 metres makes a condition worse, if you need a wheelchair, walking frame or similar, or if you are permanently blind. An intellectual or cognitive condition counts only with one of these. The blue permit lasts 5 years and costs $55, or nothing with a Pensioner Concession Card or Veteran Gold Card. A red temporary permit lasts up to 6 months and costs $18, or nothing with those cards. Your doctor fills in a medical certificate.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
