What you need to check
Medicare does not pay for ambulances in NSW, so there is normally a fee. You do not pay if you have a Health Care, Pensioner Concession, Seniors Health or Veteran Gold Card. A Veterans’ Affairs White Card counts only for the health problem Veterans’ Affairs pays for. Private health cover with hospital or ambulance cover also means you do not pay. If you get a bill, you can ask for it to be cancelled.
This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
