What you need to check

You must be 16 to 21 and looking for full-time work, or unable to work or study for a while because you are sick or hurt. You must do mutual obligation tasks, like job searching, unless you are exempt. Income and asset tests apply, and your parents’ income may count. Waiting periods may apply before your first payment. Single people with children can get up to $854.20 a fortnight.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
