What you need to check

Super can get lost when you change jobs, move house or change your name. A fund calls it lost if it has lost contact with you and nothing has been paid or rolled in for 12 months, or if nothing has been paid or rolled in for 5 years. Some is passed to the ATO (the tax office) as unclaimed super. Sign in to myGov and open ATO online services, then Super and Fund details. You will see any lost super and any super the ATO holds for you, and you can move it into your current fund. If you are 65 or older, or the amount is under $200, the ATO can pay it straight to you. You can also call the ATO’s automated lost super line on 13 28 65.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
