What you need to check
If you serve now or served in the past, and you have an injury or health condition that may be linked to your service, you can make a claim with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). You need a diagnosis from a GP or specialist for each condition. If DVA accepts it, it can pay for treatment, support and compensation. For some conditions DVA accepts the link without more proof. You can get some treatment while you wait, such as free mental health care. Claim in MyService (through myGov), or call 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372). Free advocates can help you.
