What you need to check
On JobSeeker, Parenting Payment, Youth Allowance, Austudy or ABSTUDY, you can get $250 to $500. On Age Pension, Disability Support Pension or Carer Payment, you can get up to $1,764.15 if single, or up to $1,329.90 for couples. On Family Tax Benefit Part A, you can get up to $1,430.46. On Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Carer Payment, JobSeeker, Parenting Payment or Youth Allowance for job seekers, you must have been paid for at least 3 months. On Family Tax Benefit Part A, Austudy, ABSTUDY or Youth Allowance for students, you can ask at any time. You cannot get one if you owe the government a debt or cannot repay it within 6 months, and on most payments only one is allowed in 12 months. You pay it back by getting a bit less in each of your next 13 payments, taken out for you. Apply through myGov or the Express Plus Centrelink app. You must tell them your income and costs. It is money you pay back, so think about it carefully.
