What you need to check

You may get a free permit if you use a wheelchair, have lost the use of a leg, use walking aids, or have a heart, lung or arthritis condition that affects your walking. A cognitive, behavioural or neurological condition that means you need a carer to walk safely also counts, as does permanent blindness. Permits can be temporary (3, 6 or 12 months), long term (checked every 3 years) or permanent. A doctor fills in the medical part of the form.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
