# WA Rent Relief Program

A one-off payment of up to $5,000 to help private renters who are behind on rent keep their home.

## What you need to check

You must be behind on rent and at risk of losing your home, and be named on a written lease. Your rent must also be hard to afford compared with your income. Public and community housing tenants, boarders and lodgers cannot get it. A financial counsellor works out the amount, which is paid straight to your landlord. It can clear rent you owe, or pay up to half your rent for three months. You can only get it once. The program runs until 30 June 2027.

If you do not already have a financial counsellor or housing support worker, call 1800 979 777 (9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday) and choose option 3. If you do, ask them to refer you.
