## What you need to check

You need a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or Veteran Gold Card. The power account must be in your name. You or someone you live with must have a health condition that stops the body controlling its temperature. Some conditions are already approved, such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. Others are checked by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. The extra 17.5% off mains power costs from 1 November to 30 April is on top of the Annual Electricity Concession. A doctor must sign the form. It can be backdated up to 12 months.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
