## What you need to check

State Seniors Card holders can ask to put off paying part of the council rates on the home they live in. It helps older people who own a valuable home but have a small income. Ask your council’s rates officer how it works, including how much you must still pay each year, the interest charged and when the rest is paid back.

This is a short summary. Other rules may apply, like income or where you live. Check the full rules with the agency that runs it.
